8 week program

Term 2 Classes now taking bookings -The Painted Child is an afterschool program for students in year 1 to  5.  My classes give children the opportunity to create beautiful artworks and have fun with their friends at the same time.

From 3:00pm to 4:30pm children will engage in learning about artists in a practical environment where they can tap into their inner creativity.

Lessons include painting, drawing printmaking and sculpting using a range of different medium.

Term 3- Mangroves to Mountains

As there have been many requests to learn how to draw animals, this term provides plenty of opportunities for students to explore both land and sea creatures in a variety of habitats. Horses and unicorns will also feature in the program, giving students the chance to develop their drawing skills while expressing their creativity.

What can they expect?

At 3pm children will meet outside the Learning Hub room at Double Bay PS and on the ramp outside the office for St Margaret Mary’s Primary School.

On arrival children will have their names marked off a roll and then have 15-25 minutes to play and eat some afternoon tea, before the class starts.

The program is always 8 weeks on any given term. Running from Week 2 through to week 9. Running for 8 consecutive weeks.

Throughout the 8 sessions students will be taught drawing, painting printmaking and sculpting techniques. They will learn about art making and be inspired by various artist and their environment.

Please pack a healthy snack for your child to eat at breaktime. Children are often very hungry after school and get quite disappointed if they don’t something to eat at this time.

Children will also need their own paint shirt. I have some spare ones available; however, I find that children want to have their own to wear on art days.

Pick up is at 4;30pm from the Learning Hub room for DBPS and the Top gate at SMM.

Differentiation

This program will be available to children in year 1 to year 5. As an accredited teacher and an employee of the Department of Education and Sydney Catholic Schools I am very aware of the varying capabilities of this group and will differentiate the program accordingly.

Children will be heavily scaffolded and explicitly taught step by step. This will allow all children have success and complete their artworks.
